The YMCA basketball court and the sports center in general are attracting great interest from international organizations seeking to support co-existence within the framework of the “Sports for Good” program. Last August, the first event took place on our new court, in conjunction with the NBA’s Basketball without Borders program, which brought together youth from East and West Jerusalem. We look forward to developing future collaborations with them to foster opportunities for coexistence through sport.
The YMCA and its partners believe that sports are an effective and powerful way to connect different people and foster a sense of belonging and community. In this framework, the basketball court serves as a space for basketball training and as a convenient setting for educational activities for children and youth from Jerusalem and its surroundings.
The basketball court is a magnet for sports enthusiasts, for those who are basketball players at heart, for individuals, groups and organizations – there are also training camps for basketball teams at various levels, seminars and, of course, regular classes and training.
